I am using SuSE 7.1 with the 2.4.2 kernel from the SuSE ftp site and
have a Phillips SCSI CDRW on an ISA Adaptec 1542 card.  I have played
around with isapnp until I now get this in my boot log.

This looks to me like everything would be ok, yet attempts to mount
the device give "mount: /dev/sda1: unknown device".  Also, in
/proc/scsi/scsi is only one line that reads, "Attached devices: none".
I tried to do "insmod aha1542" and get

I also found this in my boot log,
