I don't know if you are looking for an MTA change that will work for all of these, or just for pine.
Any of them.
For pine, use Roles, under the Setup->Rules->Roles
Ah, yes, I use roles too; I have forteen (14) O:-)
Roles are very powerful, and can even automatically select a role (change the From) for you, depending on who mail is from or going to. I have about 6 roles set in pine right now, for the different domains I receive email at (all to the same inbox).
:-) Ok, but the problem is setting the from header to a "faked" from, whereas at the same time mantaining the correct "envelope header", that is the only one checked by this lists software. Using roles in pine sets both. Or, in fact, you set the normal "from", and Pine sets the envelope from when sending.
Is there something that could be changed in postfix to do the trick? An intermediate filter? anything?
To change your From: in postfix, see the docs for canonical (man canonical, and also look in /etc/postfix.
Yes; but I think that wouldn't do the trick: | The canonical mapping affects both message header | addresses (i.e. addresses that appear inside messages) and | message envelope addresses (for example, the addresses | that are used in SMTP protocol commands). Think Sendmail | rule set S3, if you like.
