I had problems upgrading Ghostscript on SuSE 7.0 - so I gave CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) and it's lightyears ahead of GS - configuration via the browser of your choice, with dedicated drivers to use with GIMP (REEEAALLY COOL!!!)

I'm using the following

Software:-

SuSE 7.0
CUPS 1.1.4
Gimp 1.2.1

Hardware:-

AMD K6-2 400
256Mb RAM
Iwill XA100+ M/board
Promise ATA-100 PCI card
Maxtor 20.1Gb ATA-100
Pioneer DVD-ROM
Teac CD-R
SB 128
HP Deskjet 930C

Please give CUPS a go.

Can not wait till I get my hands on 7.1
