  ???!!... Depends on what you do with "dd".
Why would you need or want to use 'dd' unless you want to transfer
a disk image.  Usually you want to xfer files so 'dd' wouldn't even
come into the picture.

Actually I use dd to overwrite areas at the end of disks that have
been used in hardware RAID controllers.  The RAID metadata
lives up there and it confuses software mdraid if a drive is
repurposed.
