That seems to have clearly fixed the audio problem. I've booted
about 10 times since and the audio wors each time. Prior to this
it only worked once or twice in 20 attempts. Thanks Masaru and
Lew, Carlos and others. Does a bug fix need to be submitted?

It works for me too! Thanks Masaru, good catch!
Now I can listen again to Lynyrd Skynyrd playing Free Bird at the
Oakland Coliseum in 1977 again! (seriously, that's what I use to
test sound systems)
