No, it isn't possible. The next obvious choice is VoIP, but a 56K
modem is not enough.
Actually, it is possible to use a 56K modem, if you use sufficient
compression. For example, G.729 compression will fit in that with
plenty of room to spare.
I stand corrected - it's been so long since I've dealt with 56K modems
that I forgot they weren't really that bad :-)
