Hi, I had the same problem on the NIC connected to the ISP. The LEDs did flash even when no network cable was attached. I simply replaced the NIC with a new one of the same type. This one did work well (without flashing LEDs). rgds, Martin Irrgang zentara wrote:

I've noticed that the activity LED on my switch is constantly flashing for the link to my internal linux box. I'm wondering why this is? I've killed all known networking daemons. Unloaded the tulip.o and it stops. Immediately after modprobe tulip.o it resumes. Is this just a quirk of the tulip driver module on a NetGear fa310tx? Any help you can offer is appreciated.
My cards do the same thing. I think it's meant to be a visual signal that they "are on and listening".
