I recently installed opensuse-11.0 (with kde-3.5) and configured 12 virtual desktops as I always did on older suse-releases. But in 11.0, I can switch only to the first four desktops with th <CTRL>-<Fx> key combinations.
Any ideas what I can do to make the key combinations for the remaining desktops working?

That sounds like a Bug report is warranted. I can confirm more than 4 works in 10.3+kde3.5.9. In my ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals file I have many entries like the following: Switch to Desktop 2=Ctrl-F2 Switch to Desktop 10=Ctrl-F10 etc....
