I know it's not a whole lot, but may be a pointer for starters. www.tug.org www.tex.ac.uk A Guide to Latex 2E : Document Preparation for Beginners and Advanced Users (Kopka, Helmut) LaTex : A Documentation Preparation System User's Guide and Reference Manual These are the ones that I have used before. I used both the books when I got started. They are both available through www.amazon.com . Check in your local bookstore as well. =20 For more advanced stuff, look into: The Latex Companion The LaTex Graphics Companion : Illustrating Documents With Tex and Postscript=20 Regards, C. J. I have the Leslie Lamport book and I like it. I also have the Latex Companion and the Latex Graphics companion, but these two books BLOW me away! I'm looking for a book that will walk me through an installation of fonts or other packages etc. I really like Latex, and it has kept me from buying Wordperfect or Applixware. Thanks for the web sites...I'm off to explore... I will not recommend installing specific fonts on your machine and packages in the default locations. This is because when you try to take your files to another machine and try to compile it there, you'll face problems -- fonts and packages are not there anymore. What I do to use non-default style files and class files is by having them in the same directory as my source file. This way, I know that my class or style files are right with my source file. That way, it's not so smart not to check out what the style or class files are when trying to take the source file elsewhere. =20 Yes, the book mentioned below is a really good book. It walks you through a lot of the steps. The edition that I have is not for LaTeX2e but for LaTeX 2.0.9. =20 Regards, C. J. Tan On Mon, 29 Jun 1998, Mark Wagnon wrote: >=20 > C. J.
