I have installed a cable modem and will let my aracnet subscription die. I've found their service to be very spotty over the last year. I suspect that they were the ones at fault (they would never admit it though). I can sometimes connect to aracnet and sometimes not. I'm not changing anything on my end. However, I can ALWAYS connect to work through CIS. What does that tell you???
