Maybe something related?
Found this on http://www.ch45=
49.org/lust/lust.bugfix.001.html:>
quote
Crashes whenever running a Java-applet. Ends with "bus error" message.
Caused by Netscape compiling with dynamic libraries that you might have a
slightly different version of.=20
The simplest thing to do is to get gnumalloc [.o or .so] precompiled by
some kind soul. Then mv netscape netscape.bin and write a small shellscript
for netscape with the crucial words
LD_PRELOAD=3D/usr/local/lib/gnumalloc.o just before the call to netscape.bin
$*. I suppose gnumalloc hangs around the archive sites, but an archie
search will throw up a copy.=20

I take no responsibilities whatsoever for any burning or crashing linux
boxes...
