It sounds like you -- and maybe that other guy -- got stung by the default co=
nfi
guration SuSE puts into the fstab for cdroms.  They set the "user" option and=
 th
at disables all execution from the cdrom.  By commenting out the line in the =
fst
ab and manually mounting the drive, you did NOT set the user bit... you could=
 ex
ectute from the cd... just my guess
