I have tried Kppp and ezppp with my modem (externel USR x2), but
whenever I try to get a connection, both of these programs return the
message "the ppp daemon died unexpectedly!". I can get a command line
ppp up easy enough, but I am going to be setting up a linux box for
someone who probably doesn't have the ability to learn linux quick
enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I was wondering if anybody has had similar troubles with the HP Laserjet 5L
and SuSE Linux 5.2 and Samba as I have had. I have set up the HP Laserjet 5L
as the 4L as I don't see the 5L listed, and I have also tried setting the
smb.conf file to allow Windows clients to print, but I get Access is denied
when they try to print.
Also, on my Linux side, when I print my documents all print landscape with
Time Roman at Size 10, even though my settings indicate Portrait and
Helvetica Size 12.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
Brian Armstrong.

Hello Aaron,
When you get an answer to your question can you forward it to the list so
that others may share in your experiences. I'm having the blasted trouble of
getting the new ppp code (1.3.5) into SuSE 5.2. I have recently upgraded KDE
(1.0) and QT (1.40) and it went OK. But I can't seem to compile the ppp
package.
Also, I downloaded a File Manager application called xplorer which seemed to
make and install but when I try to run it in KDE it doesn't do anything.
Anybody with similar experiences?
Thanks.
Brian Armstrong.

go to your /etc/ppp/options file, and open it with an editor. If it
contains the word "lock" in it, delete this word, then save the file.=20
Kppp should work. I'm not sure about Ezppp, but since it looks a lot
like Kppp it may need this also?

I tried KPPP here, and it dies because the PPPD interface doesn't come
up quick enough. Is there a script that has to be edited?
Thanks,
