Though it doesn't say winmodem on the box the only drivers they gave me were windows and dos drivers. Has anyone used a boca modem with linux? Are the drivers available or perhaps there are generic drivers for it? Any help would be most appreciated:) Thanks, Harry - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo(a)suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e --===============5368269750142862096==-- From zentara@mindspring.com Thu Sep 10 21:24:54 1998 From: zentara@mindspring.com To: users@lists.opensuse.org Subject: Re: [SuSE Linux] boca modem drivers Date: Thu, 10 Sep 1998 17:24:54 -0400 Message-ID: <35F843A6.9342967C@mindspring.com> In-Reply-To: <35F82284.1C364413@usa.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="===============0707864333976957002==" --===============0707864333976957002== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit RiHMez wrote: > > I just got the boca modem in the mail today. It's standard procedure to only provide dos and windows drivers by most companies. Is it external or internal? If it's external, just use Yast to install the modem on Com2 (probably). If internal, is it Plug and Play or set with jumpers? If it's PnP, install the isapnp package, and Linux will find it. If not, you may have to edit your /etc/isapnp.conf to assign the com port and irq that you want. You can tell if isapnp found the modem after bootup. Hit and you can scroll back thru your boot messages. Look for isapnp finding the modem, and the com port and irq. Then just start Yast and install the modem to be your standard modem. If the modem speed is not up to expectations, you may have to put a setserial command in your /etc/rc.d/boot.local file to set the highest speed at boot. zentara - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo(a)suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e --===============0707864333976957002==--
