Has anyone found out how to get rid of Xeyes and the
redundant clocks In the windowmanager??
I have read and experimented and killed my window more times than I
care to continue. I have changed in emacs, english as root, as user,=20
as nobody,... The book makes it seem so simple.. then it completely
leaves something out..... (probabably the important step).. In the
case of the colors menu. Never seen It.
And I think It should step you through if you choose "make wm in English.=
"=20
I just want sound and to get rid of some stuff that seems redundant.
Thanks a million.

Tex,
In my case, what I did to get rid of Xeyes was go into .fvwm2rc or
.fvwm95rc in my HOME directory and # out the line that refers to
Xeyes. It is in there at least two places, and there may be more, I
cann't remember for sure now. I took the clock out also, as I didn't
like that big round clock up there, but am still trying to figure out
how they get the small digital clock in there.
If you don't have a .fvwm2rc file in your Home directory
you have to go find the file that controls the Xwindows manager and do
the above, but I followed the instructions, and created the ".fvwm2rc"
file.
You do the same things for the redundant clocks
if you wish. Taking things out is easy. Just pound them out! Or # them
out, BUT
putting something else in that will run can be a real learning experience!
Ahhhh, but you are then a programer in Xwindows.......

The automatic configuration of X config files is what sets SuSE apart! I had
to hack deep into .fvwmrc many moons ago knowing slightly above nothing to get
an application on the menu. I'm glad this is the biggest block you come up
against.

It's called asclock (included with afterstep? It's in the fvwmbuttons (or
GoodStuff or Wharf depending on your WM).

Search for it and pound it out!

Eek.. it takes more than that! I'd love to be a programmer in X! The most I
have done so far is bash scripting in an xterm and making the Tk "Hello"
button! (OK I hacked TkRemind a bit to print out half-sheet calendars)
