I think you have to make xconfig (or whatever) again, to create the
configuration files for compiling. And then make modules and make
modules_install. Exactly in that order.
I did 'make' in the Sound Blaster AWE32 driver and had the same problem
that you. Anyway, I don't have my SBAWE32 working. The midi programs
don't find the instruments.
