Netscape 4.04 was doing this with my 2.0.32 Kernel for a while, and
I upgraded to 2.0.33 and had java as a module. I don't think the module is
automatically loaded when Netscape runs, and there are only a few java
things that will crash Netscape now, not all.
Try as root:
bash>lsmod
if it list the java module then:
bash>rmmod java
and see if the netscape crashes with Java enabled
