sorry for the confusion...
You may find the systemwide crontab under /etc/crontab. This mainly is
created to be a) SystemV compatible and b) for making it easier for the
SysAdmin to create entries for e.g. new or uucp.
There still exists your personal "root" crontab. You may choose either of
them. Anyway..if the commands are listed in /etc/crontab and in root's
crontab they will be executed twice.
You may uncomment the line in /sbin/init.d/boot if you like (need it).
Well..the page you were referring to was correct. The sentence might be
misleading as I don't understand it either..;)
So, here is a sample entry for /etc/crontab with explanation:
53 6 * * * root $HOME/bin/cron.daily
Mins Hours * * * User Command
We thought this to be selfexplanatory..The command is run as the user
given. This make it easy to perform systemwide tasks and to keep them
together instead of having to edit the crontag for uucp and news...
