Tim is, of course, correct. SuSEconfig can be used to force this. Full
intructions are given in the following SDB article:

The inscructions listed there include the following:
rm -f /var/lib/susewm/susewm.kwm=20
cd /opt/kde/share/applnk=20
rm -fr SuSE=20
touch /var/adm/packages=20
SuSEconfig
But I recommend reading it in its entirety.
