Yes, the AOL *JAVA* and the ICQ *JAVA* for Linux - both run fine.

These are real Java apps ... and as such require JRE or JDK installed.

You can either install java  from the SuSE distribution or pull it down
and install it - it's not diffiuclt at all to install from a non-RPM
standpoint, although I'm sure the RPM install is a nobrainer as well.

These programs are not nearly as polished or clean as their Windows
counterparts, but they do work well enough so that if you really want
these apps on Linux, then they are there for you.

To install:

Look for the JAVA client links for both  ... you'll see them ... just
follow them to the Linux download ...=20

Again, if you need java, they have links for that as well.=20

Follow their unpackaging instructions, as well as their install
instructions - it actually works.

I have been able to put ICQ into a /usr/local/ICQ dir and had to hand
config some symlinks to make a single /usr/local/ICQ dir available for
multiple users. Don't ask me how I did it, suffice it to say I hacked some
of their files and made some symlinks.

I have not configured AOL Msgr multiuser.

I have Real Player set up as multiuser and it works fine.

If you need to know where java is on your system, do this in an xterm:

   which java

ICQ:
Put the resulting path into the ICQ 'install' script for the JAVA_HOME=20
and you'll need to uncomment the line- remove the # from that line.
