For getting the box to answer the phone and allow a login, edit your /etc/ini=
ttab
file. Near the bottom of the page is a line commented out like this:
# modem getty.
# mo:23:respawn:/usr/sbin/mgetty -s 38400 modem
if you uncomment the "mo:23:respawn....." line, your computer will answer the
phone and allow the user to login normally. There are also lines pertaining =
to
fax and voice, but I have not yet played with those.
I have used the modem getty and dialed into my box from Delrina WinComm Pro 7=
.0
on win95, hyperterminal from win95 and minicom and seyon on linux --- all work
perfectly.
