Hi,
I have just spent way too much time trying to setup realplayer 5.0.
Unsuccessfully, :( .I have rvplayer5.0 and netscape installed in /opt. I
have read all the docs that came with rvplayer5.0. I tried to follow the
directions exactly and failed. I then tried to just understand them and
attempt to tailor them to my SuSE setup and failed again. If I open
Communicator 4.05 and then Realplayer and then click sites and Real
home, realplayer says it can't find Netscape. If I try to setup the MIME
type for realaudio-plugin, I don't get plugins as an option. I have
plugins directories in ~/.netscape and /opt/netscape. I symlinked
/opt/netscape to /usr/local/netscape because realplayer seemed to think
it should be in /usr/local (I think???). I know somebody out there has
done this correctly, how'd you do it? If I type "which rvplayer", I get
/opt/rvplayer5.0/rvplayer. If I do "which netscape" I get nothing
(because I have communicator 4.05). Is realplayer literally looking for
"netscape"?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated,
Steve
p.s. Sorry if I rambled on... my brain is tired.

First try:
bash>updatedb
as root and have your paths updated. In either /etc/profiles or
/home/my_account/.profile you'll want a:
MOZILLA_HOME=3D/my_path/netscape
or
MOZILLA_HOME=3D/my_path/communicator
also
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=3D/my_path/rvplayer
This way, each of the other programs will be able to find
eachother. There maybe other things entailed like setting up the rvplayer
in preferances->helpers (where the applications are launched) and for the
entry realaudio (ra,ram) the syntax is:
/my_path/rvplayer=20
and netscape should lauch rvplayer from it's browser...
Hope all of this helps...
Jonathan
