[opensuse] Apache Default Site Redirect

Hi All, So I have just set up ssl on my new web server as you may have seen from my other thread. Now in the default apache config for HTTP I have simply added the following to redirect to the virtualhost I wish to see as default: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} =www.mysite.com RewriteRule ^ https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [END,NE,R=permanent] So now what happens when I type in the IP or local hostname of the server, and by extension any other ServerName which is not defined in the apache config, I get redirected to www.mysite.com But I wish to achieve this with the default HTTPS site too. However I get a self signed certificate error if I use the default SSL certs, and also if I use the ssl cert for www.mysite.com it says bad domain. Which I expected. So my question is, how can I redirect all HTTPS requests by default to my www.mysite.com site without getting certificate errors? Can this be done? [opensuse] SSL For Free

Hi all, I have recently learned of letsencrypt.org and their service sslforfree.com. Does anyone use this? I have just set up a certificate with ssl for free on own website and it works great. No 'This website is improperly configured' message. (even though it is properly configured, just self-signed). The only problem I have with SSL For Free is that the certificates expire after 90 days. I can understand why they do this so as not to have lots of unused certificates but as I work on many sites any manually renewing them every 3 months would be a right pain in the proverbial. Is there a way to obtain a free certificate from SSL For Free and have it renew automatically? Was trying the rc1 version of util-linux 2.33, and it has an option to link several of its utils statically. It works for the maintainer on redhat, and I was wondering why I'm having problems on opensuse... > $ ./configure --enable-static-programs=mount,umount > $ make mount.static umount.static ..... so I see... [opensuse] Claws-Mail crash when using ProtonMail bridge

My MUA is Claws-Mail 3.17.1 from build.opensuse.org/server:mail running on Leap 15 and KDE plasma. I am testing ProtonMail Bridge, and find that CM segfaults when trying to switch folders in my ProtonMail account. The folk at claws-Mail think it's the openSUSE version of libetpan (1.8-lp150.1.2) being out-of-date, and that newer releases have this bug fixed. [opensuse] Missing possibility to choose Windows at startup

A few snapshots earlier I suddenly could not choose for Windows at startup anymore. I sometimes needs that. At the start of the snapshot DVD 20181002 I could choose for Windows In Windows I deleted all openSUSE partitions. After that I used the same DVD to install Tumbleweed as fresh as possible. After restart I got - to my big surprise - Windows, with no possibility to choose Tumbleweed. Now I start Tumbleweed by inserting the 20181002 DVD and chosing 'Boot from Harddisk', and there I can chose both. How to solve this into a simpler situation? I just discovered IPv6 privacy address are not enabled in 15.0 by default. Why is this? It's necessary to add sysctl net.ipv6.conf.eth0.use_tempaddr=2 to /etc/sysctl.conf to enable them. This is on systems using Yast to configure networks. [opensuse] Remote system shutdown

On a local network, what would be the preferred way for one system to shut down or reboot another system? Something over the network. I am thinking that a systemd service on the master system (openSUSE) would control this other system (Linux - openSUSE or Ubuntu). ssh? I have played with rexec/rcmd and such before. I do not need anything fancy. [opensuse] dual boot mounting and virtual machines

Is there a way to mount a linux partition in a linux virtual machine on a windows host? The idea is, sometimes I have to boot into windows on my laptop. Most of the time I am in linux, but occasionally I need a true windows environment, without the overhead of a windows virtual machine running in a linux host. When running windows, I have a program that allows me to see and read files on my ext4 partition on the laptop, but it is buggy and performs poorly. Instead, I would like to have a virtual machine running opensuse on my windows host and mount my ext4 partitions on that virtual machine, even though they don't mount in windows without special software. That way I could access my data files from my linux partition, use the applications I am used to that only run on linux, but still be able to use windows. It would not be my normal mode of operation, but it would give me a lot of flexibility. The barrier seems to be figuring out how to get a virtual machine to recognize the file system of the physical hard drive, rather than only recognizing virtual drives. I am trying to use netconsole to examine some problems I am having booting certain laptops. I am running opensuse 42.3 with generic 4.18.7 kernel configured to include netconsole. From sudo journalctl -b | grep eth0: Sep 24 22:02:01 dfpc60 wicked[942]: eth0 up Wicked seems to appear about half a second after netconsole looks for eth0: Is there something I can do in systemd, the eth0: configuration, or elsewhere to get wicked to load eth0 earlier? I was a little surprised that netconsole did not go back and try again a little later. We had a very brief power-glitch last night, but it was enough to cause my PC to reboot. But the reboot didn't come up cleanly. It was complaining about not being able to mount an XFS filesystem that I use for storing recorded TV programmes. In fact mount claims 'wrong fs type': # mount -v /srv/live-tv/ mount: /srv/live-tv: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/mint_vg-live--tv_lv, missing codepage or helper program, or other error. I tried to run xfs_check but it doesn't seem to be in the repositories so I tried xfs_repair -n: # xfs_repair -n /dev/dm-3 Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... Phase 2 - using internal log - zero log... ALERT: The filesystem has valuable metadata changes in a log which is being ignored because the -n option was used. Expect spurious inconsistencies which may be resolved by first mounting the filesystem to replay the log. - scan filesystem freespace and inode maps... sb_ifree 81, counted 80 sb_fdblocks 12504226, counted 12276402 - found root inode chunk Phase 3 - for each AG... - scan (but don't clear) agi unlinked lists... - process known inodes and perform inode discovery... - agno = 0 imap claims a free inode 135 is in use, would correct imap and clear inode - agno = 1 - agno = 2 - agno = 3 - process newly discovered inodes... Phase 4 - check for duplicate blocks... - setting up duplicate extent list... - check for inodes claiming duplicate blocks... - agno = 0 - agno = 1 entry "Coronation Street Omnibus.ts" at block 0 offset 3848 in directory inode 96 references free inode 135 would clear inode number in entry at offset 3848... - agno = 3 - agno = 2 No modify flag set, skipping phase 5 Phase 6 - check inode connectivity... - traversing filesystem ... entry "Coronation Street Omnibus.ts" in directory inode 96 points to free inode 135, would junk entry bad hash table for directory inode 96 (no data entry): would rebuild - traversal finished ... - moving disconnected inodes to lost+found ... Phase 7 - verify link counts... No modify flag set, skipping filesystem flush and exiting. The mount is being tried against fstab: # grep live-tv /etc/fstab #LABEL=LiveTV /srv/live-tv xfs noatime,noacl 0 2 /dev/mint_vg/live-tv_lv /srv/live-tv xfs noatime,noacl 0 2 I normally mount this filesystem by label but I commented that out to get the system to boot and I added the /dev line as a more basic method to see if it helped, but it gives the same error. lv/pv/vgscan all report everything normal. This is Leap 15.0 I'm a bit stuck now; my XFS foo is not strong today, it seems. Can anybody suggest what my next steps should be? [opensuse] List all installed packages for a new install

Hi all- I'm re-installing openSUSE on a new (bigger) drive. My thought is (after backing up my home directory) to use zypper to list all installed packages to a file and then later use that file (and zypper) to re-install those packages on the new drive. Has anyone done this? All - I note that download.opensuse.org has been down, responding with 403/Forbidden errors at all URLs, for about the past hour. (I'm sure that now that I've sent this, it will magically come back up.) I've searched around, but am unclear: Is there a proper reporting venue for an outage like this? [opensuse] ffmpeg: openSUSE vs Ubuntu

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this. It's not really a programming question. It's more about a difference between how two distros make the same libraries. I have an SDK with a closed-source library that I need to use on openSUSE 42.3. The supplier (Flir, formerly Point Grey) support Ubuntu as their Linux distro. Generally, the libraries find all that they need on openSUSE 42.3. At least ldd is indicating that, generally, libs and entry points are available. With the exception of ffmpeg. And here the problem is not so much the versions of the libraries, but instead how these libraries are identifying themselves internally. The Ubuntu libraries are claiming things like this: ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31: /usr/lib64/libavutil-ffmpeg.so.54: version `LIBAVUTIL_FFMPEG_54' not found (required by ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31) ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31: /usr/lib64/libswscale-ffmpeg.so.3: version `LIBSWSCALE_FFMPEG_3' not found (required by ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31) ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31: /usr/lib64/libavcodec-ffmpeg.so.56: version `LIBAVCODEC_FFMPEG_56' not found (required by ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31) ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31: /usr/lib64/libavformat-ffmpeg.so.56: version `LIBAVFORMAT_FFMPEG_56' not found (required by ./libptgreyvideoencoder.so.2.12.3.31) So, a library such as /usr/lib64/libavutil-ffmpeg.so.54 is wanted and is found on my system. Unfortunately, the tag LIBAVUTIL_FFMPEG_54 is not found inside that library. So, I thought I would look to see what is in the openSUSE library. I see this: LIBAVUTIL_54 I do not see LIBAVUTIL_FFMPEG_54. Could it be that openSUSE and Ubuntu use slightly different text for this flag/value? Note that I had this issue previously when experimenting with similar libs from Flir. I want to make a better solution than I did before, which turned out to be lib dependency hell. When I installed the Ubuntu version of these libs, many other ones were also needed, as the Ubuntu libs were not all satisfied with the openSUSE libs. And these led to conflicts. I am hoping that perhaps I can make these 4 libraries in such a way as to make the Ubuntu libs happy, while keeping the majority of the openSUSE libs. That might be wishful thinking. I have Googled a bit. I don't really see anything related to this. The openSUSE builds in OBS seem to be using the files as is. I do not see that LIBAVUTIL_FFMPEG_54 is being modified into something else by openSUSE. So maybe Ubuntu change these values? I'm less familiar with Ubuntu's build system. So I thought I would start asking on openSUSE lists since that is where I want to run things. I'm optimistic. [opensuse] Any Experience with LTO-8 Tape?

Hi Folks, It looks like using tape for backup (in my situation) is finally becoming reasonable again. LTO-8 supports 13TB/tape uncompressed. Does anyone have experience with more recent LTO tapes? It looks like the interfaces are SAS or Fiber. The last tapes I used were SCSI, do Leap's "mt" commands work okay with SAS? How about shelf-life of recorded tape? Reliability? I am not able to understand the status of Knights. The program worked well in KDE4 but it seams the program has not been ported to Plasma 5? Anybody has some info on this?
