[opensuse] Names of standard folders in own home directory are in other language

Hello everyone, The installation of Opensuse 15.0 was done in a diferent language than mine. After installation I changed the packages to my language. Everything went ok, except my home directory which remains in the installation language. How can I change it? [opensuse] Broken menu titles in okular

Some time ago I was fiddling with okular's settings [Configuration/Configure Okular]. I'm not sure what I did, but since then the 'File', 'Configuration' and 'Help' menus have had their titles replaced with the words 'No text'. 'Edit', 'View', 'Go', 'Bookmarks' and 'Tools' are unchanged. The menus still work. If I knew where these variables were stored I could remove that file and re-install okular. Removing and re-installing doesn't work, which means the changes I made are persisting, which is annoying. -- Bob Williams System: Linux 4.18.12-2.ga880bd8-default Distro: Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.45.0, Qt: 5.9.4 and Plasma: 5.12.5

Just updated TW with the latest packages (zypper dup ---no-rec) only to find that Samba is not working anymore, see below: systemctl start smb.service Job for smb.service failed because the control process exited with error code. [opensuse] Wired Internet Gone

Hi, last Thursday evening my DSL signal to my house went dead, and didn't come back. Today the repair man came and replaced a connection module in the box on the wall outside of my house. Voila, DSL signal tested good up to the modem next to the computer inside the house. But the DSL modem didn't show that there was a signal. So the repairman replaced the DSL modem with a new modem with integrated wifi, and I was able to log on to the internet in Win7, WinXP, but not openSuse. He left, and I thought that I just had to configure something in yast to make it work. But it's not working, and the settings seem to be correct for the network. I can't connect to the internet on any computer using openSuse with a wired connection. I can connect using wifi with my laptop, but even it won't connect with a wired connection to the internet. I'm using opensuse leap 15.0 with KDE Frameworks 5.45.0. I will need some help to resolve this, so thanks in advance. Redirect permanent / https://www.mysite.com/ or RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} =www.mysite.com RewriteRule ^ https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [END,NE,R=permanent] So these are two different ways of performing a redirect. I have always used the former in my config. I notice that the latter method using the Rewrite engine is automatically generated by certbot. So which is better? What are the pros an cons of each method? Why does certbot choose to use the Rewrite engine? Can anyone please enlighten me? [opensuse] Two HP devices - compatibility question

Hi, I wander about Leap compatibility of these two devices: - HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28nw (T6B80A), or - HP LaserJet Pro M452nw (CF388A). Is there anyone on this list who can share some user experience? The first one is multifunctional and I wander very much about scanning part. Never used scanner on network before. Vendor pages are not clear on Linux support, neither on printing nor on scanning side. The second looks like more serious hardware. It's just printer (no MF) and vendor pages suggest that OpenSUSE is supported. I checked on https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Hardware, and found nothing about these devices. Can anyone confirm that any of these teo work on Leap? TIA & best regards, Radule

[opensuse] What changed in the 10/2/18 updates to grub2 causing unwanted os-proper to run?

All, Updates dated 10/2/18 in /etc/grub cause os-prober to run when it has not run in the year prior adding a windows entry to my grub.cfg? This is completely unwanted behavior. What changed? os-prober was installed automatically when Leap 42.3 was installed, but has been well-behaved up until these 10/2/18 updates. Why was this changed? Is it better to rpm -e os-prober? Or, can /etc/default/grub be trusted not to be overwritten so that GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER="true" will be respected going forward? -- David C.
