With 42.2 having gone EOL last week, I figured my office test system
ought to be upgraded to 42.3 too - not much chance of anything being
fixed on 42.2 anymore.
So I ran a 'zypper dup' which seemed to go fine - except
a) nfs mounts don't work. I can't mount them manually either.
b) instead of a GUI login screen, I get a black screen with a mouse
pointer.
I can probably figure (a) out in time, but I'm a little stuck with (b).
I'm using the Nvidia drivers, they worked fine on 42.2.
Suggestions on how to proceed with (b) much welcome.

I have just started a fresh 42.3 install on my test desktop - I know I
can't deselect grub2, but now I get this message:
> These packages need to be selected to install: SuSEfirewall2, ntfs-3g,
> ntfsprogs
> Please manually select the needed items to install.

Hello,
my first question to the mailing list:
I just installed Leap 42.3 and noticed that my Latex files won't
compile anymore because of an outdated Circuitkz 0.6 (2016-6-6),
current is 0.8.3 (2017-5-28) and I need at least 0.8.2 (2017-5-1).
What can I do? Can I just install Texlive from TW repository?

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tired it and does not report anything.

Does anyone has any idea where this may be coming from, and how to
solve it, as YaST won't work...
Happens in Leap 42.3, when trying to use YaST (main and modules)

Back in August of 2017, it was announced that Leap 42.3 would be available in
the AWS Marketplace.
https://news.opensuse.org/2017/08/22/opensuse-leap-42-3-cloud-images-become…
Since then I have periodically checked, but there is no Leap 42.3 AMI
available. Support is ending for Leap 42.2 at the end of this week. I was able
to upgrade a Leap 42.2 instance to 42.3 and it does seem to work, but I get
nervous that at some point a kernel update will render the instance
unbootable. There is very little activity on the opensuse-cloud list, so I
don't see much use in joining and posting to it.
So, does anybody have an idea of who to "bump"?
Thanks.

I have need to set up Tumbleweed on a VM. I am using Parallels for macOS
(that's my daily driver for administrative tasks, from there I jump to my
Linux boxes, or use a VM). What I find is that I can log in as root, but
as myself, it accepts the password, but does not log me in. I checked the
usual files (/var/log/messages, dmesg output, /var/log/audit/audit.log,
and the Xorg log file), but didn't see anything why the GUI wouldn't fire
for me.
Any ideas? Has anyone seen this with KVM? Just trying to narrow down if
it is a problem with Tumbleweed on VMs in general, or just Parallels.
Thanks,
Tom

The regional governement of Andalussia (Spain) has forbidden sugared
drinks and food (like coca-cola and donuts) from being sold at any school
cafeteria in their territory, under fines reaching 250000€ (or closing the
place temporarily).
At last! :-)
And they must offer free water.
The list of regulations I read in the article is complex and I don't
understand all the implications and how they are going to do it, but I
suppose there will be oposition.
To put in context, the party governing there is socialist (not communist,
more like liberals) and has been in power maybe since the first regional
elections, if memory servers right, so maybe not :-)
