Hi, at oSC16 we would like to offer the opportunity to get your key signed by other openSUSE contributors. Some of our SUSE employees have very well connected GPG keys, don't miss this opportunity. To make this procedure as efficient as possible I would like to use the procedure used by FOSDEM: - All attendees send their public keys to me: # gpg --armor --export --output $KEY_ID.gpg $KEY_ID Send $KEY_ID.gpg via email to me (jsegitz(a)suse.com) - I'll compose a file with all the signatures, further instructions and send a signed version around three days before the event - You need to print out that list, compute two hashes and fill them in on the printed copy (it's described in the file you'll receive). Bring this list, a pen and some form of photo ID to the keysigning party. With that procedure everyone can check their own key and the hashes. If there are no discrepancies only the photo ID needs to be checked, which speeds up the event considerably. [opensuse] LibreOffice themes

I'm running libreoffice 5.0 and the icon themes are 'flat' and colourless, not the defaults ones from the past. [opensuse] network setup in leap 42.1

Hello: In openSUSE 13.2 the traditional network setup (ifup in yast) was removed and wicd (??) was introduced which I didn't like when I tried. Along with ifup kinternet/qinternet and related packages, eg smpppd (SuSE Meta PPP Daemon, the back-end for kinternet) have been removed too. I am curious how network manager independent network setup occurs in leap 42.1? Does it have kinternet on something similar? [opensuse] openvpn - Cannot open TUN/TAP dev /dev/net/tun: No such file or directory (errno=2)

This morning I patched/upgraded a 13.2 box and rebooted. Normally I have no problems starting openvpn, but this time the 'tun' module wasn't autoloaded. Nor when I manually tried starting openvpn later. Can anyone suggest a reason why 'tun' was not automatically loaded?? [opensuse] Off-Topic: sending details (in)securely via email

Just a quick gauge on people's thoughts on this. My employer recently asked everybody for an updated ID document. For most of their French employees this would be their identity card, but me being British I don't have one, so it would have to be my passport. They want me to send a scan of it to them via email. In the past I've refrained from sending scans of such sensitive documents by an inherently insecure system, so I've been holding off these last few weeks. Since I won't be passing by the office in person anytime soon, aside from putting a photocopy in the post, what would you advise? I'm certainly not going to delve into the complex, murky world of email encryption just for them, and besides, I don't rate the ability of the receptionist at the other end to fathom out anything more exotic than an attached jpeg. Any attempt to send by other means may be in vain since she may forward it by email to head office. Good day, I am trying to find out of shorewall is supposed to work with 13.2 properly, as I read about systemd stuff being in the midst of creation and wicked and sort of that things that make it problematic to run something different from susefirewall2. [opensuse] DHCPv6-PD request

My ISP is finally rolling out IPv6. One thing that's required is for the router to make a DHCPv6-PD request to get the prefix info etc. I don't know if my router/firewall, based on openSUSE 13.1 is doing that. I don't see anything in Wireshark that would indicate it's making that sort of request. I'm also not aware of any configuration that would enable it. [opensuse] Kernel 4.5 runs great!

regular readers will recall that I've mentioned before: I'm on 13.1 and few leading repositories, one of which is Kernel_Stable. I've just upgraded to 4.5 and yes it is an improvement in many ways. The whole 4.x series has been pretty goo, each step along the way being in improvements, particularly with locking and blocking in the kernel, that result in better responsiveness. Discussion of same at http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux-45-features&num=1 "The Many New Features & Improvements Of The Linux 4.5 Kernel" I'm looking forward to 4.6 :-) Given the stability of 13.1 (and its tumbling) and the continual teething troubles reported here with LEAP, I'm staying with this configuration for the foreseeable future. I'd advise anyone who has the spare resources or inclination to try the 4.x series kernels. At the very least, they have updates to BtrFS that offer stability an improvement over the 3.x series. [opensuse] Graphics for Server

Hi All, I am looking for some advice on a graphics card for my server. One function of the server is to convert media but it takes absolutely ages (about 85 minds for a terribly LQ 20 min H.264 360p video)!!!!!!!!! Current graphics card (lspci): root@server5:~ # lspci | grep NVIDIA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK208 [GeForce GT 720] (rev a1) 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GK208 HDMI/DP Audio Controller (rev a1) Now on my desktop pc I have no trouble with converting full 1080p videos in no time at all (about 15 mins for an hour and a half movie) Graphics card is (lspci): paul@paul-pc:~$ lspci | grep NVIDIA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] (rev a1) 01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 HDMI Audio Controller (rev a1) other specs: Both PCs are using the NVIDIA official drivers (from the community repo). Both are asus boards, the desktop being a B75 and the server a Z77 Desktop PC has 16GB RAM server 24GB ECC both have an intel i5 3470k cpu both have a mirror raid set up on SATA 3 using 1tb WD 7200 rpm drives using XFS Both PCs on opensuse 42.1 (also no difference in performance on ubuntu 16.04 on my desktop). Now could this be an issue with the setup or is the 720 just pants? Should I get another 760 or would anyone with more knowledge in this subject recommend a better card? The server has no screen and is command line only so need for other graphics capabilities other than converting video.
