Hello everybody, Problem: When I open a mp3 file it is opened with a unwanted mediaplayer and it cannot be changed in fileassociations. I have 3 mediaplayers installed amarok,clementine and vlc. I have opened in systemsettings fileassociations the mp3 setting. In the 'application preference order' field i removed vlc, the preference order is now clementine,amarok only. The same thing I did for x-mp3. I logged out and logged in. [opensuse] dolphin not updating directory contents

Howdy, I am seeing a problem with dolphin where, sometimes if I delete a sub- directory from a bash shell that directory still appears in the dolphin view. If I go up the file hierarchy in dolphine the deleted directory (or file) still appear but are unavailable. Only if I start a new dolphin window does it show the correct directory content. Now, today i have to compile something for OpenSuSE 12.1, and i cant find how to add into the build architecture the OpenSuSE 12.1 ? Hello all, Today, some of my systems have done an upgrade of the following packages: samba-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:02:12 2012 samba-krb-printing-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:02:04 2012 samba-winbind-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:58 2012 samba-client-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:42 2012 libldb1-1.0.2-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:35 2012 samba-32bit-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:34 2012 libtevent0-0.9.11-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:34 2012 samba-client-32bit-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:33 2012 samba-winbind-32bit-3.6.3-115.1 Mon May 7 03:01:31 2012 The system is a Proxy Server, with authentication on a Windows 2008 Server. After the upgrade, the authentication stop to work. After some debugging of the situation, my solution to make it working again is to remove the samba-winbind-32bit-3.6.3-115.1 package. After this, the autentication works perfectly. Any idea of why that problem comes out after that upgrade? [opensuse] howto test server load?

Hello, I use my own hosted server for video streaming (among other things, of course). I wouls like to know what is the load these videos put on the server, let only to know if it's powerfull enough. I don't expect more than a handfull concurrent access. [opensuse] Gnome 3 Network Issues

I am travelling and I am noticing a lot of issues with Gnome 3 Network. I am running openSUSE 12.1 and at Dullas Airport openSUSE under Gnome 3 was not picking up the free WiFi had to boot into Ubuntu which immediately picked the available wifi. Now I am at my friends place and Gnome 3 is not connecting to the available network. Also there is no way to change the password for the given network it keeps everything greyed. Once you try to connect and it shows connection failed, it doesn't even show up in the list of available network. Thank god that I had Ubuntu installed so that I was able to work or post this email. I am still here so I would like to troubleshoot as I don't want to get stuck in a situation like this again. [opensuse] mounting a mac os drive in opensuse

I am trying to mount a mac os drive (from my son's broken mac) into linux to get the data off of it. I actually successfully did this with the same drive about 6 months ago when I was using 11.4. I installed hfsutils, used fdisk to check which device the drive is when I plugged it in, and it is /dev/sda1. So I made the directory /mnt/macdrive and then as root typed the following with the following result: linux-aw90:/ # mount -t hfsplus /dev/sda1 /mnt/macdrive mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so so I checked dmesg | tail and I get this for the last couple of lines: [ 874.947485] hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock [ 899.247767] SFW2-INext-DROP-DEFLT IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=48:5b:39:f3:76:92:c0:3f:0e:7e:fa:f9:08:00 SRC=192.168.0.1 DST=192.168.0.151 LEN=78 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=398 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=1025 DPT=137 LEN=58 I don't follow that last line except that I see a mac address, my default gateway, and my ip address. Don't understand the other things. So I was thinking that maybe it is hfs and not hfs+, so I tried to mount it as hfs instead: linux-aw90:/ # mount -t hfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/macdrive mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so same result.
