[opensuse] NetworkManager update

On KDE 11.4, I am running NetworkManager 0.9.svn1192577-7.2. I see that there is a newer version available: 0.9.1git20110503-8.1 Is this a stable version? The version I am running seems to work for the most part. Sometimes the wireless connection is iffy. Not sure where the problem is. But if 0.9.1git20110503-8.1 is considered better, I will give it a try. It wants me to remove the package NetworkManager-kde4. Hey, for all of you KDE3 hold outs, someone's finally taking the initiative to fork it to a new project: http://trinity.pearsoncomputing.net/ So far, they're only maintaining .deb packages for Ubuntu, but if you want to see KDE3 live on, it might be worth starting a project on the OBS. [opensuse] HP officejet 4500?

Hi fellow lizards; Has any of you used an HP officejet 4500 all-in-one with openSUSE 11.4 or 12.1? I'm thinking of getting this printer and wonder if all the services (printing, scanning and FAX) work in OS. Any comments or suggestions? [opensuse] Several kernel modules not found at boot

On my computer I always had problems to get a read of temperatures, fan speed and voltages in e.g. gkrellm. After a lot of googling I found that there seemed to be a conflict in the region where acpi should do its work. In order to overcome this problem I had to use: acpi_enforce_resources=lax After the latest kernel upgrade of today I got five kernel modules which where not found. This was as usual. modprobe: Module pata_sis not found. WARNING: no dependencies for kernel module 'pata_sis' found. modprobe: Module ata_generic not found. WARNING: no dependencies for kernel module 'ata_generic' found. modprobe: Module processor not found. WARNING: no dependencies for kernel module 'processor' found. modprobe: Module thermal not found. WARNING: no dependencies for kernel module 'thermal' found. modprobe: Module fan not found. WARNING: no dependencies for kernel module 'fan' found. Features: block usb resume.userspace resume.kernel Still curious I tried this time to boot without "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" included and much to my amazement temperatures, fan speeds and voltages where all shown in gkrellm. Could somebody lighten me up what this controversial information about the kernel modules WARNING means in the real world? [opensuse] openSuSE 11.4 - Printing bug

Hello, im really helpless how to fix a printing bug in openSuSE 11.4. I wrote an email to this mailing list, by the beginning of last week, but sadly nobody answered. While waiting for answers I was filling the bug to KDE bugzilla, but they told me, that the printing dialog comes from QT, so wrote to their bugtracker: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-19233 I'm wondering, that nobody else has this problem. We can't print to an additional paper tray, if the tray 1 (manual) is also filled. In the days of kprinter, everything worked. There must be something wrong in the printer command sent to cups/printer. My problem is, that I have 60 desktops, and nobody can print from KDE directly to A4 default paper (Tray 3). [opensuse] 11.4 Virtualbox USB broken by hdjmod-kmp and libmtp8 (Amarok)

Packages hdjmod-kmp-desktop and libmtp8 apparently break USB in Virtualbox under openSUSE-11.4. I was able to correct the problem by removing those offending packages. OpenSUSE-11.2 did not have this problem, neither does Ubuntu-11.4. It has nothing to do with permissions and /etc/udev/rules.d/XX-vboxdrv.rules, - I tried several variants, even logged in as root. Thank you for your ideas. Gory details ============ openSUSE-11.4. (no problem with OpenSUSE-11.2 and Ubuntu-11.4) VirtualBox-4.0.8-71778-Linux_amd64.run Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.0.8-71778.vbox-extpack - generic version and Extension Pack from virtualbox.org (same problem with 3.2.12) Guest OS: Windows-2000 + SP4 + Guest Additions Enabled USB controller, Enabled USB 2.0 (EHCI) Start Windows-2000 VM. [opensuse] Gnome 3: Undoing what tweak-tool did via CLI

Hi, Can I undo "File manager handles desktop:YES" via command line? After I did from gnome-tweak-tool, it gives up and ends up with a blank screen when I login and nothing can be done other than ctl-alt-del & logout. I need to undo it from "root" via CLI. It's v11.4.
