[opensuse] Is there any way to "save state" of a process?

hi all ! I need to save state of a process, i.e. dump RAM into a file, but was unable to find good utility to do that. I have found CryoPID, but this software is too buggy. Anybody knowns alternatives to CryoPID ? Usage case: I want to save games running inside DOSbox. [opensuse] grep question

Hi all, I have files with mailing addresses in them. There are normally 4-5 lines with the first line starting with "address: " then the person's name and 3 or 4 more lines of address. Can (how) I use grep to pull all the address out? If not grep what else? Thanks! [opensuse] HELP! My WiFi is down!

Okay, So I saw that I can update my kernel and I figured, sure, why not. 2.6.21-rc5-git2-31-default is what I have. I added software.opensuse.org/download/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_10.2/ to my source and did an upgrade.Everything works except for, you guessed it, my wifi. I have both IPW3945 and a Madwifi card in my computer. Both worked just fine, I installed the rpms from YaST when I installed openSUSE 10.2 and all was well. NOW, no wifi works and I checked and they are present in /sbin but nothing works, not even modprobe. Now I don't know if it makes a difference or not but I have that wlan-default kernel installed from YaST if that makes a difference. Any ideas of what may be wrong or has anyone else experienced this? What's my best option to take here? I just purchased an Acer 19" AL1916 LCD monitor, refurbished, from Amazon's "Techforless" division. The price was right, but the device isn't quite. There is a gray "cloud" about 3/8" diameter, 1-3/4 inch above the bottom of the screen, right in the middle. It is not on the surface--I can't wipe it off. I am going to have to live with it; the hassle of sending it to Texas, proving that I have a real receipt, which I only have from the 'net, the time for repair, if possible, and the strong-arm to put my old CRT back is just not worth it. However, this is the first refurb that I've been even slightly burned on, and I'm very surpised that it was Acer that did so. One other point: it's very tricky to set the brightness and contrast to what you want. It wants to set all this stuff automatically, and it comes much too bright, and with the contrast set so there's not enough. It is possible to do this, but not intuitive; the instructions are terrible. (What you are likely to want is minimum brightness and very low contrast, which is opposite of what you might think. Maybe the Chinese concept of contrast is other than ours.) I also own a no-name brand--X2gen--and I like it better. [opensuse] Krusader as default ??

After following the recent thread about dolphin/konqueror file managers, I installed Krusader, and really like it. My questions are: 1. Can Krusader be installed as the default file manager in KDE. That is, when I click on a file icon, it open in Krusader? 2. [opensuse] SUSE certified laptop

Hi, I wanted no worries so I bought a SUSE certified laptop from TransTec. Later it appeared it had SATA i.s.o. IDE and that was not certified (and didn't work correctly, once in a while everything freezed). TransTec currently has no working laptop for Linux, they will be in a while but I can't wait because I'm going to Oxford for a weak after easter. Q: which SUSE certified laptop works correctly with 10.2? I'm currently thinking about buying a HP, e.g. NC6320 with intel processor, NC6325 with AMD processor. Both are SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 certified, according to HP. Anybody experience with one of those laptops? What does SUSE certified mean? Does every piece of hardware work? Other recommendations are welcome. It's going to be used for business, no need for a very high 3D framerate although showing compiz can be usefull. The laptop should have firewire, bluetooth, wlan and working suspend/resume using open source drivers. [opensuse] activate dual head mode

Using SLED 10 I can activate dual head mode, but the only option available to me it "cloned multihead" mode -- both "xinerama multihead" and resolution settings are "greyed out" and unavailable. What might be the cause of this? My device is a fairly generic "white box" notebook clone, with an intel 855 GM primary display. I have connected it to a Proview pl866s lcd. That seems to display fine, but again, it is stuck in clone mode and only 800x600 resolution.
