network priniting question

I have an HP 5000 setup on a network via an external jet direct server. Everyone prints without any problem. Since the printer is about 100ft away from me I would like to know when it has printed my job. Is there any way to set this up on 8.2? make modules_install kills sound?

Hello, Last Friday I compiled a new kernel to add framebuffer support on my SuSE 8.0 system. I have been running vmlinuz-2.4.18-4GB. I did a "make bzImage modules modules_install" but before installing the new kernel, I had to shutdown the machine so my computer room could be used as a guest room. When I rebooted on Sunday, sound would not start up, and I get the error message "could not find snd-sb16". (I have a Creative Labs SoundBlaster16 card installed.) I tried to fix this by running alsaconf, but it too complains that it can't find snd-sb16. Yast2 also would not configure sound, giving me an error message indicating that the module was not found or the IRQ was incorrectly set. Using find, I tried searching for snd-sb16.*, but it is not found. A reinstall of all things alsa also did not work. Can someone offer me a clue as to how to get sound working again on my box? Before I did the kernel and module compile and the module_install, I had sound working. So the modules had to be there. Also, I only have one modules directory, /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB, which is correct for the SuSE default kernel I have installed. Gentlemen, I am trying to make with that my SuSE Linux uses a connection that comes of my Cable modem, using dhcp in mine eth0, when I initiate rcnetworks it I inform the following one to me : eth0 ...... no IP address yet.....backgrounding What I need to make besides informing that eth0 goes to use DHCP, needs to edit some script or some archive of configuration? OT: StarOffice/OpenOffice save formats

Has anyone tried to determine how many StarOffice/OpenOffice.org users are saving their new documents, sheets, presentations, etc. under the SO/OOo formats as opposed to configuring the applications to always save with MS formats unless otherwise specified? Apache warninig

/etc/init.d/apache start returned 0 (Success.) Starting httpd [ Mailman PERL PHP4 ]stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device ..done When I restart apache1 I get this warning(error?!) message. It works, but I was wondering why I get this... Best regards, Sourian
