Hi, I did login to rescue mode and did fdisk /dev/hda I get the following mesg. The number of cylinders for the device is set to 1222 There is nothing wrong with that but this is larger than 1024 and could in certain setup cause problems with 1) softwares that runs at boot time (e.g. old version of lilo) 2) bootup and partition software from other sources (eg DOS...) warning : ignore extra data in partion table 5 Disk /dev/hda: 255 head , 63 sector , 1222 cylinder when I print the existing partions I get device Boot Start End Blocks Id system /dev/hda1 * 1 652 5237158 c windows 95 /dev/hda2 653 1222 4570529 5 extended /dev/hda5 ? 873 873 39 ff BBT I guess my sys is totally screwed up. I'm going to lose all my updates , settings, latest netscape and opera . and whatever I installed and whatever I stored , everything is going to be totally lost................................ Can't mount NFS mounts at boot

Hello all, I have a laptop on which I use a PCMCIA network card. During boot I get errors when the nfsserver is started; I think that it is because the network isn't up yet, so the nfs rpc calls fail to the file server. If I start the nfs manually, it always works. What is the best approach to fixing this? I thought about changing the order of scripts in rc3.d, but I am not sure exactly what needs to change. For example, the the pcmcia script is at S06pcmcia, while the nfs scripts are at S09nfs. NVIDIA Problems

I have Dell I8100 with NVIDIA Geforce2 Go which I have been trying to get going reliably for 4 months now. I am running Suse 7.3 which I upgraded to 2.4.17 kernel and then upgraded to XFree86 4.2. Other problems seem to be fixed, but have a new one. When I try to use the gui login, it still loads the opensource glx where it should load the NVIDIA GLX, and the keyboard does not work. If I login mode 3 command line, login, then startx, is loads NV-GLX. I have done the switch2nvidia_glx which runs, then log in, it seems to be OK, but is still running NV_GLX according to XFree86.0.log. When I reboot, I have to run the switch2nvidia_glx again to get things to work. Two Questions. 1. Should this not be NVIDIA_GLX instead of NV_GLX? (I am using 1.0.2313 Nvidia drivers) 2. How can I get the proper GLX to load when I use gui login? Art
