[SLE] raw mail addresses allowed?

Hi, I have a new server being set up which only has an ip address. I try to send mail to zentara(a)203.134.23.789 and the mail is returned saying "hostname not found". Is there a special syntax to send to a raw address, or isn't it allowed? [SLE] change dev order

I'm trying to install SuSE on a new computer that has 2 ide hard drives and 1 Promise Ultra66 drive. The thing that I am trying to accomplish is having the ultra66 drive be /dev/hda. Currently it is /dev/hde. With the ide cables, I can physicallyange the order the block devices are assigned. [SLE] Makefile errors trying to compile "gstalker"

[SLE] Answering machine prog.

Hello, I have a SuSE machine and a Win98 machine connecting to the 'net through a linux-based server/firewall (seperate box). I can no longer use a windows program I used to use as an answering machine (the only modem is on the server). Is there a program I could run on the server to replace it? I've had no luck so far finding one. I do have VMware, which could run win98 (and the answering machine prog.) on the server, but I think this would really bog things down and I'm not even sure it would work. Ideas? Hello, Why do you need to do this? It shouldn't matter, should it? You can boot off of any drive just the same, regardless of the letter. If you have a device attached to hde, the bios will automatically make it "c" and bootable. Better yet, with the latest SuSE, it will boot from anything. Now, if you really need to swap boot devices, there is a kernel option to do so, that is not enabled by default. It will rearrange the hdx's, but you're probably on your own, as there probably aren't that many people who use it anymore. Your email is a little confusing, though. [SLE] FOOLS RUSH IN...

I've hosed something in my system, but I don't know what, and I was hoping for some pointers before I play around any further with the rescue disk. I downloaded the 2.2.16 kernel rpm from Suse. (k_deflt, which was on my system). I checked the MD5 sums, which matched those on the ftp page. As this was the first time i would be upgrading my kernel, I looked around in various documentation to see if there were any warnings/advice on how to do this. not finding any, and assuming that the point of having an "rpm" is that it can be installed with rpm, I proceeded to rpm -U ./k_deflt.rpm in the directory where I had saved the rpm. Well that all went fine, except that at the end there were some messages that certain /lib/ files were not replaced. Now I wish I had written down which ones. Anyway, at this point I don't know what they are. Well I continued working for a while, looking to see what I should do next. Various programs started freezing. Netscape, ok that's normal. Then netstat just hung, which was weird. So I decided to reboot. then -- surprise! I get the "loading linux" message. then I get the "decompressing kernel" message, then it halts with a message like "no more data to load" or words to that effect. Can anyone suggest a probable cause and solution? Thanks. [SLE] Weird mail problem with SuSE-E list

Hi! I have recently noticed, that I only get mail from this list from somewhere around 5PM CET (17:00) and until 7PM CET (19:00). Than the mail stops comming until the next day at five pm. Is the list set up that way or what, couse my mail is checked ævery four minutes, and the mail from this list should be sent directly to my mail server, which happens, but somehow only from five to seven PM. Can anyone from SuSE comment on this? I am from Slovenia - Central Europe if that matters.
