[SLE] automounting shareed dir of server autamaticaly got users

Hi folks, I know this can be done , but how. I want a particular pc to autamaticaly mount a shared dir/path off of the linux server. IIRC, both Sun and Dell do sell Dual-Ethernet cards... [SLE] kernel problem

hi all i've downloaded kernel 2.2.16 as well as lx_suse.rpm. when i tried to install lx_suse by : %rpm -i lx_suse.rpm an error appeared: file /usr/src/linux from install of lx_suse-2.2.16.SuSE-8 confilect with file from package lx_suse-2.2.14.SuSE-12. o what i did was i proceeded to uncompressed the kernel. much surprisingly this time i can't do that! i've tried with: %tar -xzvf linux-2.2.14.tar.gz & it says: gzip:stdin: not in gzip format tar:Child returned status 1 tar:Error exit delayed from previous errors ..i've tried bzip2,gunzip,unzip=just to try my luck,but it didn't work. what's happening? after the error messages, i used the tar method to 'untar' 2 other programs which i've downloaded, everything works fine here. p.s. i'm currently using suse6.4,kernel2.2.14...there were some error with the patch file for 2.2.16 that i've downloaded & i thought the entire kernel download would at least give me less problem;-) pls help, i've spend approx 2 weeks/> now to download the above two files. btw,lateron when i recompile & reinstall the new kernel,everything(e.g. apache,sendmail,samba etc) in my suse wouldn't have to b configured right? thanks a lot for your help. tk ===== 0Oo~~:o) Smile! [SLE] Real Player 7 Beta 2 Not Playing

Hi all, I downloaded and installed Real Player 7 Beta 2 on my 6.4 box at work. Beta 1 had worked fine, and all my other sound stuff works great, using kde, Gnome, and Windowmaker. Only the new Real Player plays no music :( . I've tried all 3 driver settings without success. I'm using 2.2.16, the kernel OSS drivers, and a Soundblaster 16 ISA card (genuine Soundblaster). Anyone know what might be wrong? [SLE] Why is Berkeley DB part of shlibs?

Hi, I would like to build the cyrus-imap server on SuSE 6.3. For that, I need to have Berkeley DB installed first and it has to be at least version 3.0.55. While looking around my system, I noticed what may be a Berkeley DB installation. It is part of the shlibs package. Now the question: what is the version of Berkeley DB shipped with SuSE 6.3? How can I upgrade the version since it is part of another package and therefore I cannot just uninstall it? BTW, why wasn't Berkeley DB shipped as a separate package so it can be easily removed and upgraded? Ok, thanks for your help, a little more info for you, if I mount the root drive on the remote system, I can write to /junk, /junk/mnt, but when I try to write to /junk/mnt/hdb1 I get the denied....the hdb1 is a second hdd in the system, does that make any difference?? Well, I see that some of 7.0 is up w/out a glibc-2.2 and I know this email will be blocked from your mail server unless the user performs some trick w/sendmail or did I get that email about it wrong?. All the programs I was using four months ago to record a record or mp3s on a cd are now all broken and none available will work. I was wondering why you didn't update rpm so we could use the major number 3.0 rpms from RedHat since in all our desperation to compile every single thing we would fail because we were users not programmers? If anyone knows of any combination of xx programs that will record a cd and will compile with 2.95.3 and the glibc that SuSE gives us let me know. My previous configuration was always up-to-date RawHide and I was using xcdrdao, cdrecord and qtecasound in a Gnome environment. I never could figure out XCDroast and I was using mpg123 to convert mp3s to cdr and sox to convert wav from records to cdr. Due to the release of KDE Beta 4 I have returned to using Helix Gnome instead of KDE-1.92 after compiling 1.93 from scratch and it still wouldn.t work! In April I did have midi working w/binars and alsa, but only sound works now w/alsa cvs and 2.4.0-test7.
