[SLE] xfce & KDE/Gnome

Just curious -- it looks like the KDE with xfce is a reasonably popular mixture around here, but does anyone use xfce with gnome? [SLE] Problem for compiling kernel

Hi susers!!! I have the following problem when trying to compile de Suse 6.2 Kernel. I go to /etc/src/linux and type make config or make xconfig or make menuconfig and nothing happens. I think that my sister has been playing around removing and installing packages and has removed some package that is needed to compile the kernel. Does someone know which are the packages needed? By the way, someone knows any tool for using Zip drives under X? I tried JaZip and couldnŽt make it work because it didnt find libjpg.so.62. [SLE] Lightweight search capabilities

I am developing a searchable archive of software code changes for my company, using apache, can anyone suggest what to use to provide search capabilites, the search s/w needs to be available on linux and (probably solaris :( ) needs to be reasonably easy to configure and insdtall.. Will the next release of SuSE English have 128 bit (formerly "US domestic") encryption? Will there be a SuSE RPM for that soon? I hate having to install by hand. [SLE] Phantom directories...

Greetings! I set up an additional hard drive on my SuSE 6.3 linux box by using YAST. I initially created a mountpoint called /oldwindow to confirm that I could see the contents of my old Windows drive. I deleted that mountpoint, repartition the drive for swap and native linux, and I set a new mountpoint called /newhome. After copying over the old home folder to the new drive, renamed the home directory /oldhome, I deleted the /newhome mountpoint and replace it with /home. The mountpoints for /home and /oldhome are valid, but I got these phantom mountpoints hanging around: /oldwin and /newhome. I checked fstab file, and it doesn't list these old mountpoints. Is there file that I should be looking at to delete these old moutpoints? Thanks! [SLE] (1) Sound via OSS and (2) unrecognized module

(1) Having read the SuSE manual, the sound how-to, etc., I installed OSS, found the sound card, and got it working after running the SoundOn command from the linux prompt (it's a MAD-type ISA card). However, I am booting the station via the graphical login into KDE. How do I initiate the OSS sound during the boot-up process? or do I need to incorporate modules into the kernel rather than use OSS? (2) I'm seeing a message about a module named major-char-( j? maybe? or something else) not being found. What is it, what is looking for it, and where is it found? Do I incorporate it through the module.dep file, module.cfg or what?
