[SuSE Linux] Gateway problem

Hi all, Thanks to LenZ, for your answer about masquerade, last week. TOP-JOB SuSe! Look this is the big advantage of SuSe over Red Hat, that SuSe looks to the mailinglist, and really answer questions. I never got an answer from RH! Once again Top_Job SuSe, and I hope you will continue to answer questions of newbies (like myself) direct on the mailinglist. I still have problems with this masquerad. In rc.config I put under MSQ_NETWORKS="192.168.1.0/24" MSQ_DEV="/dev/ttyI0" When I start Nescape on the Win95 machine my Linux PC dials without any problem, but there is no display in Netscape. It seems to me that the Linux PC does not tranfer anything to the Win95 PC. Do I have to set some more thing in: hosts.conf host or resolv.conf or somewhere els, in order to tranfer the connection to the Win95 PC. I also tried to put the default gateway 192.168.1.0 in YaST, but it still doesn't work. What could be the cause of this problem? Thanks for any help, or suggestions. [SuSE Linux] What is the easiest to use console mode mail program?

Hi, I'm trying to get an alternative to X and Netscape for my mail, although it works great. I need something that is as simple as netscape for a user to use, independently of sendmail and fetchmail, just as Netscape does. In other words, the user's mail is kept and sent from the user's home directory, and can be run in text mode. Also it must be able to reply to emails and create emails while offline. This is to run on surplus laptop, that can't handle X. I've looked at pmail, and it seems to do what I want , but I don't know how to get Pine to deposit outgoing mail in pmail's outbox. Pine seems to want to be in an online mode when you send an email. Before I start looking at all the packages out there, I would like to hear what packages are giving good success. [SuSE Linux] Ethernet cards

Hi, I've recently recompiled my kernel to use built-in devices opposed to modules. While using modules I was able to configure 2 network cards on my system (SMC & 3Com) now no matter what I do the second card refuse to be recognized. I've read the HOWTOs and implemented the changes in my lilo.conf (append = "ether=0,0,eth1 ether=0,0,eth2 ether=0,0,eth3") to recognize up to four cards but I doesn't work. I've tried to use 'append = "ether=11,0x300,eth1 " which I know works with the module kernel but again no go for the built-in kernel. Any help would be appreciated. Shucks, ain't it the way! But, I've hassled the company who have now promised to send the machine back with a DFI (P5BV3) board which I know has the new VIA chipset and which should work fine. [SuSE Linux] Masquerading problem

I try to use a Win95 Pc to connect trough my Linux PC by means of masquerade to connect to the internet. I'm working on this for 2 weeks, but still no success. I read Howto's Net 3, Dns, Masquerading, Firewall etc. The following are my IP's - Linux PC 192.168.1.1 - Win 95 PC 192.168.1.5 - My internet providers primary DNS 195.121.1.34 secondary DNS 195.121.1.66 In /etc/rc.config I have put MSQ_START="yes" MSQ_NETWORKS="192.168.0.0/24" MSQ_DEV="/dev/ippp0" (isdn) When I try to connect the Win95 PC to internet, the Linux PC dials correctly, but it doesn't transfer the connection to the Win95 PC. So not display in Netscape on the Win95 PC. In my /etc/resolv.conf I have put name server 195.121.1.34. In my /etc/route.conf I have: 192.168.0.1. 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 eth0 195.121.1.34 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 ippp0 default 195.121.1.34 What's wrong with my configuration? Can please help me out? Using YaST can somebody explain what I have to put under: PPP connection: default gateway point to point partner IP addresses of the ISDN device: default gateway point to point partner When I use ipfwadm instead of MSQ_START="yes" in /etc/rc.config, do I have to disable MSQ_START? So in /etc/rc.config MSQ_START="no". Can somebody tell me the difference between MSQ_START="yes" and IPFWADM, and which is preferred to use. Thanks for any help, or suggestion, as I don't know what to do next, to solve this problem, as in my opinion I tried everything possible.
