[opensuse-ja] 12.3: input method can't switch in KDE3, KDE4, Gnome, fvwm
I am having troubles after upgrading from 12.1 to 12.3. I hope someone can help me. One problem is that I am no longer able to switch input method on Japanese keyboard using zenkaku-hankaku key or any other defined key combination. I presently have scim and Anthy configured, as it was before the upgrade. System languages are English and Japanese. System is a US laptop with US 104 key. I have attached a Logicool multimedia Japanese keyboard defined as OADG109A in the configuration of KDE3 and Gnome. One problem is that the input method can no longer be switched from the keyboard using zenkaku-hankaku key or any other defined key combination but the keyboard can be switched between US and JA. I am using scim and Anthy, which I've been using since 10.1. System languages are English and Japanese. System is a laptop with US 104 key. Attached is a Logicool Japanese multimedia keyboard defined as OADG109A in the configurations of KDE and Gnome. I am using KDE3 and fvwm. The other window managers are still problematic and not very usable. ibus can only switch input method by much trouble and effort using series of mouse clicks and then it keeps automatically switching input method back to system default keyboard. ibus was uninstalled. scim loads the system default configuration when it restarts. It only reloads the user configuration when user logs out then logs in again. Does this problem seem familiar to anyone? Hi, Unfortunately, the usage of ibus 1.5.x is different from ibus 1.4.x and scim, etc. To use zenkaku_hankaku key, the upstream developer recommend that we should configure each engine so that that key switches its internal mode such as "あ", "A". Since this key binding is enabled in Mozc, which is the most popular Japanese conversion engine, all you need to do is: 1. install ibus-mozc 2. add Mozc to ibus's engines list by ibus-setup 3. switch ibus's engine to Mozc by Super (Win) + Space or its tray icon After that, you should be able to switch between hiragana and alphabets. Another approach is to switch between Mozc and what is called xkb engines. Xkb engines such as "English (US)" and "Japanese" are kinds of engines but they simply input letters determined from a clicked key and selected layout without conversion. SCIM was a default input method framework several years ago. But now, its website is not available and ibus-anthy cannot be compiled on 13.1. If you prefer SCIM like input method framework, please try fcitx, which is default for Chinese environment. The latest version of fcitx have a bug with zenkaku_hankaku key handling, though. The version of the ibus package on 12.3 update is 1.4.x. For 12.3, please install it from the official repository not from M17N. I guess your were using ibus 1.5.x. I will check scim still work well later. Fuminobu TAKEYAMA (2013/09/22 23:45), Fuminobu TAKEYAMA wrote:
