[opensuse-es] [OT] "Seguridad" WGA en MS-Windows
Hola :) Acabo de leer este correo en otra lista y me ha parecido curioso. Si alguien lo puede confirmar ... --- I think I may have inadvertently found away around their attempt to force WGA upon me if I want updates. Here's what happened. As ever, the tray icon that notifies me of available updates had activated. I clicked the notification balloon which showed the small window that listed the available updates and the check-boxes you can use to choose which of the offered updates to install. I deselected the WGA and the Malicious Software Removal tool, kept the others and confirmed the dialog. This is something I've never done before, always preferring to go through the Windows Update (browser-based) application. At the point, I believe the selected updates are downloaded, but not installed. At that point I tried the Windows Update application again with the same result (you must install WGA ... blah, blah, blah), which I again declined. Then I forgot about this whole business (and came here to write my original post on this topic). This morning I shut down my Windows and when I did so, it proceeded to install the updates I'd selected. I was apprehensive, thinking they were going to go ahead and install WGA, too. But when I started Windows up again, the WGA and Malicious Software Removal Tool were still listed as available updates (the only available updates). So it would seem I found an end run around Microsoft's desire to get WGA onto my system. So far, so good... --- Rafa -- "We cannot treat computers as Humans. Computers need love." Si no me equivoco, lo del Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) permite a los usuarios descargar actualizaciones "extra" pero no impide descargas de seguridad de Windows Update... aunque ahora mismo no recuerdo si su instalación era obligada a día de hoy, la verdad. Lo que parece decir el autor del mensaje es que ha podido evitar instalar el WGA pero seguramente se lo pida cuando quiera descargar cualquier "addon" o actualización de MS Office, por ejemplo. Si no me equivoco, lo del Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) permite a los usuarios descargar actualizaciones "extra" pero no impide descargas de seguridad de Windows Update... aunque ahora mismo no recuerdo si su instalación era obligada a día de hoy, la verdad.
A mi me costó un poco decirle que _no_ (no es no, no?). No recuerdo el proceso exacto, pero me parece recordar que tuve que insistir un par de veces en que no quería instalar el WGA. Al fin y al cabo, no se trata de una actualización de seguridad.
Lo que parece decir el autor del mensaje es que ha podido evitar instalar el WGA pero seguramente se lo pida cuando quiera descargar cualquier "addon" o actualización de MS Office, por ejemplo.

Mira a ver si puedes descargar un add-in para outlook sin validar, por ejemplo. Instructions This download is available to customers running genuine Microsoft Office. Mira a ver si puedes descargar un add-in para outlook sin validar, por ejemplo.
Creo que no uso ese programa desde hace... más de seis años. Hombre, que no tiene que ser esa utilidad en concreto, sólo era un ejemplo :-D. Cualquier aplicación (plantillas, sonidos y demás tonterías) disponibles en Office Update te pide validar la versión de office para lo cual tienes que tener el active x correspondiente, o en su defecto Ubuntu X-). Pasa lo mismo con los hotfixes de windows, necesitas validar la copia, por eso pide el wga.
