Des hace algunos años vienen avisando del cambio... sip. La mayoría de hostings ha curado en salud y ha optado con mantener ambas versiones.
Esto me lo mandaron el 29 de noviembre, pero hasta ahora, me hice el distraido, por aquello de: "Si funciona bien, para que lo voy a tocar".
Que suele ser la mejor alternativa... hasta que no hay más remedio.
El CMS que uso es Drupal, y googleando, me encuentro que ya hace 2 años estaba preparado para php5: http://drupal.org/node/15117
Aunque no se si a la hora de instalar Drupal hace alguna diferencia de configuración si el servidor usa php4 o php5.
Si lo has instalado tú mismo (Drupal) seguramente tendrás que revisar algunas cosillas.. si usas la versión "de serie" del hosting, te lo habrán configurado.
Hace poco actualice desde Drupal 5.1 a 5.3. Bueno, en realidad instalé un sitio nuevo con 5.3, y luego migré otro desde 5.1, pero en la migración no me creó unos campos nuevos en algunas de las tablas, y tube que hacer la exportación de la estructura desde el 5.3 que instalé desde cero, y crear esas tablas mediante phpMyadmin en el que habia actualizado. Por eso, aunque mi ISP diga que es sencillo con Cpanel hacer el cambio, tengo mis dudas. La ventaja que tengo es que puedo probar con el sitio nuevo, y si falla algo, lo rehago.
Lo mejor es tener un hosting "dummy" donde hacer las pruebas (independiente del resto), así puedes hacer las "perrerías" que quieras sin temor a cargarte nada y vas viendo las diferencias entre las versiones. Cuando lo integran como módulo en CPanel, la configuración es distinta.
