Problemas al instalar driver Ati legacy propietario (era Re: [opensuse-es] Comentario script instalación driver AMD)

Saludos,. el correo es largo, favor de no leer si no se quieren liar con este problema. Procederé a pasar todos los cambios que hice y a probar, por eso es tan largo. Correcto. SI he leído varias quejas en la lista inglesa respecto a los drivers para Intel. Estuve unos 3 años usando una portatil con tarjeta de video nvidia, en ese entonces no habian scripts que automatizaran el trabajo o repositorios, había que bajarse el driver e instalarselo. Además de aprender ese procedimiento no recuerdo haber tenido que sufrir mucho. (Además del tiempo de aprender a usarlo bien), supongo que he envejecido y como no me encuentro con ciertas facilidades, no puedo instalármelo facilmente el driver para Ati. A eso se añade que la información para openSuSE no es muy común, ya saben a que distro se pegan todos.

Me había olvidado de mencionar, de que de las versiones nuevas del driver Nvidia, ya no pueden mandar una versión empaqueteada, ya que a lo que le llaman la "GLUE layer", requiere que sea compilada en el equipo en que se instala, y que para ello requería tener todo el entorno de desarrollo del kernel instalado, amén de kernel-devel, etc etc, y que para reemplazar todos los paquetes que van cambiando a medida que se actualiza el kernel, han creado un nuevo paquete llamado "dkms", que también serviría para el AMD Catalyst (en teoría, aun no lo he probado, porque pensé que solo era para Factory y las versiones venideras, pero veo que está para las versioines anteriores):

Casualmente ayer, hice una actualización del sistema (Opensuse 12.2), había mirado que no hubiera una actualización del kernel, y no la había, pero había vartios patches opensuse* que afectaron la instalación del driver gráfico, y cuando volví a encender el sistema, no cargaba el entorno gráfico. Tube que desinstalar dl driver gráfico con el srcript:
/usr/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh
Luego de lo cual ejecuté el instalador con "sh amd*.run"
Volví a crear el initrd con "mkinitrd"
Y todo volvió a la normalidad. <snip> Si no lees y no sigues los instructivos, no es mucho lo que te podemos ayudar. Si no te molestaste en leer el instructivo del link que dejé, no es problema mío.
En cuanto a que "No puede cargar el módulo fglrx", deberías ver que dice dmesg. Probablemente se trate de una versión que corresponde a un kernel distinto al que tienes instalado, pero lo mas probable, es que si te dice que debes deshabilitar kms, estén colisionando los 2 drivers (en el link del instructivo dice como) y debes ejecutar mkinitrd despues de modificar la configuracion del sistema. Sino, preguntale a Carlos Ayala...
Lo mejor, es tener el entorno de desarrollo del kernel instalado, junto con las versiones del kernel-desktop-devel que correspondan a la versión instalada, y descargarte el driver catalyst desde: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/downloads.aspx

He estado bajando el driver de aquí: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeon_linux... que es de donde corresponde según el modelo: Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4250
También he usado este: http://geeko.ioda.net/mirror/amd-fglrx-legacy/openSUSE_12.2/x86_64/ que es del repositorio. Lo que encontré menciona poner la opcion nomodeset entre los comandos cuando carga grub, pero acabo de poner como dicen las instrucciones. sobre no_kms, lo puse en el segundo intento de hoy, no hubo cambios. (incluido el mkinitrd)
Sobre el dkms, es una opción que está en prueba... no hay una explicación adecuada sobre el uso.
De la información que encontré, se menciona incompatibilidad con el X Server v1.13, poco probable pues estoy con la v1.12.3
Sobre el enlace proporcionado... veo varios archivos para Windows > http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/downloads.aspx
Haré una prueba final, veŕe que me dice dmesg y sacaré algunos logs.
