Moin,
ich will auf meinem Notebook gerne im Grafikmode booten, d.h. Framebufferdevice nutzen. Klappt auch, wenn ich am Bootprompt linux vga=771 per Hand eingebe. Wenn ich aber append="vga=771" in die lilo.conf schreibe geht es nicht. Es ging aber mal, keine Ahnung warum es nicht mehr geht. Hier meine lilo.conf (SuSE 7.1)

also bei mir gibt es da nur eine Zeile in lilo.conf mit
boot=/dev/hda vga = 771 ...
das zweite vga = normal hab ich nicht. So weit ich weiss funktioniert es so.

funktioniert es so.
da is ja auch jemandem ein Fehler unterlaufen, denn "append="vga=771"" gehört so sicherlich nicht in die lilo.conf. Vielmehr wollte da jemand dem Autor dieser lilo.conf mitteilen, dass er mal die Zeile "vga=771" hinzufügen (= append) solle...

Jain. Es ist richtig das jemand ein Fehler unterlaufen ist und es ist flasch das eine appendzeile nichts in der lilo.conf zu suchen hat.
Die appendzeile sollte man allerdings in den einzelnen label-Abschnitten plazieren.
In der geposteten Variante stelt einmal die Appenzeile und dann die vga parameter Zeile. Das es dann nicht klappt wundert mich nicht. Mann sollte nur eines benutzen und dann lilo nochmal schreiben lassen!
