Problem with Suse 10. PC is crashing when i switch to a console

Hi, i have a huge problem with a Dell Dimension 8100 Workstation. The workstation is running Suse Linux 10. Everything works fine, except one thing. If i switch to console (ALT + F2) for example, the Workstation crashes. My guess was, that it crashes because of the Framebuffer device, so i started it with "nofb" which didnt help, it still crashes. If anyone got an idea, just tell me. mfg Florian.

What do the logs say? Does the kernel have panic? Is the machine still reachable via ssh? Can you boot to run level 3, and then switch the consoles as you like? Can you then go to RL 5, and switch to console 7? -- Andre Tann

Maybe you should ask your question on the english speaking list "suse-linux-e". This one is german speaking, it might be that more people understand your problem on the english list. OJ -- Arroganz ist die Kunst, auf seine eigene Dummheit stolz zu sein. (unbekannt)
