Hast Du nautilus installiert - den Dateimanager aus GNOME. Früher hatte der die "Unart", alles und jedem den GNOME Desktop "überzustülpen". Im Extremfall würde ich mal das versteckte Verzeichnis .config umzubenennen und dann XFCE neu starten.
