I'm newbie with this. I'm familiar with launchpad where it has web based way to upload po files. Also I worked with transifex. This is new to me. I found out how to download the po files. Our wiki doesn't have how to upload files. Now I have all webyast 100% translated in my computer and I cannot upload it. It's useless to have it in my computer. So either someone complete the tutorial http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Localization_guide or just let me know how to upload those po files corectly. Perfect. Let's focus on webyast and on greek language (el). working directory is ~ostrucnk/webyast/el/po Can you give me please... 1st command: download the po files. 2nd command: upload the files. Since nothing was clear to me, if you check http://i18n.opensuse.org/stats/trunk/el/webyast/index.php you can see that I deleted the translated files. I hope I did it and no-one else. Thanks. or just let me know how to upload those po files corectly. The procedure varies with the team. For Spanish, most people use Vertaal. The wiki above is complete in that it refers you to subversion doc for the commands.

I can show you how I do.

I first create a "trunk" directory. Then I run:

svn up svn up 50-etc 50-pot 50-tools es md 50-memory/ ; cd 50-memory/ svn up head-info.es.po memory.es.po lcn-memory-checked.pot

Repeat for all the subbranches.

Then, I run a script, every day before starting work:

cd ~/Projects/babel/SuSE/trunk/yast svn -N up for WHAT in 50-doc 50-etc 50-html 50-pot 50-tools es ; do echo -n "---- $WHAT - " svn up $WHAT done

cd 50-memory/ svn up head-info.es.po yast2.es.po yast2_checked_header.pot \ yast2_checked.pot README cd ..

Similarly for lcn, webyast, packages.

Then I translate, then upload as I said yesterday.

I would make a backup of what you translated, download it all properly, copy over the translated files, then upload properly.

Or better, ask your team mates how they do it.

I changed es with el. I copied the previous directory (including Makefile.svn) It tried and got Transmitting file data .....................svn: Commit failed (details follow): svn: File '/trunk/webyast/el/po/webyast-base-ui.el.po' is out of date If I keep the same Makefile.svn it doesn't do anything.

BUT! I insist that you have to contact your own team members and ask THEM for instructions. I can tell you how I do it, or general terms, not how you are supposed to do it.

Often in teams only one person uploads the files, the coordinator. The rest of the people send files to him by email. Or they use a coordination tool, such as vertaal. He had a problem in the past too.

This is strange. I recommend to save your translations to a save directory and do a fresh checkout (adjust the commands to your needs): cd .../webyast mv el el-bak svn co https://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/opensuse-i18n/trunk/webyast/el I can see the .po files in el/po and one with a long name that you probably saved there: webyast-software-ui.el (Efstathios Iosifidis's conflicted copy 2011-07-14).po

Once you have a clean checkout, it is really not that difficult. But you can try the "vertaal" system. Unfortunately, I do not know the details about it. "Carlos E. R." writes:
