You may get a better idea when you use the line command 'msgfmt -c <po-file>'. It gives the line number of the error and with vi and that <line number>G you can go to that line.

I don't have any problem with zypper.nl.po.

That file has plural forms, watch it. Other possibility is an space after the cr.

To tell you what the error is, I'd have to see the file.
