[opensuse-testing] installation appears to choose wrong resolution?

I'm doing an installation with ssh+nfs - on the boot menu, the resolution defaults to 1280x1024, which looks fine, but once the installation gets going, my monitor reports "out-of-range", and shows no picture. To get it to work I have to manually reduce resolution to 1024x768.
