In the previewer of the scan the size is indicated as 1648 * 4652 pixel, ..., 200 dpi x 200 dpi

If I save the scanned as page .pdf it has the double height (as indicated by the above values)

What can I do now?

If you did not already, you should try to install the scanner with YaST/Scanner.  It will install the HP driver avision.  The driver info indicates that it supports up to 2400 dpi, but also cautions that some firmware revisions have x-axis scaling problems when using >1200 dpi. Both simple-scan and skanlite use the xsane backend which is probably where the problem is.  The HP driver adds on to xsane.  I am using another HP scanner with its HP provided driver and it scans perfectly. -- dg

That looks like the >1200dpi firmware problem that is in the note attached to the driver install file from HP.  All I can suggest is to check HP support for an update to the firmware.  Sorry I can't help any more than that. -- dg Leap 15.1/15.2, KDE
