[opensuse-support] hostname

How do you change the hostname of the computer? The information I have for a different system does not apply here. I want the computer to be called linux1 The old directions I have go like this: In /etc/sysconfig/network: should read HOSTNAME=linux1 NETWORKING=yes CRDA_DOMAIN=US In /etc/hosts: should read #generated by drakconnect 127.0.0.1 linux1 127.0.0.1 localhost Thanx for the assistance--doug -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

YaST, Network module. There were a number of possible places to change HOSTNAME and I did so. I've tried to keep a record, but it may not be perfect. At any rate, when I open a terminal, it shows doug@linux1, which is what I expected, and the admin screen shows linux1:/home/doug # and appears to function OK, so I hope all is copacetic. Hi Doug, When you create a post on paste.opensuse.org or susepaste.org for posting an image you should click on the choice for pasting an image. It's up in the right corner. It says "Image Code". Choose "Image". Then click the button where you choose file and navigate to the file you want to upload. regards, -- /bengan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org

It is frowned upon, and there is a 100KB limit on the list. Not everybody has free internet⁽¹⁾, and the file could be sent to thousands of people (I don't know the actual number of subscribers).
