how to force yast to output in English locale
when I am getting an output from the yast gui for a dependency requirement, how do I integrate the request LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 or similar of course for US if I wish the output in English. How would I force zypper to do so when bugreporting. (please be kind and put a complete syntax example if you have one as I will avoid to run into syntax issues on the head of it. Thank you for your patience).

Put "LC_ALL=C " in front, without the quotes, of your command on the command line. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf

Very much appreciated.

It works for every command, too. I have two scripts: cer@Telcontar:~> cat /usr/local/bin/espaniol #!/bin/sh LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_ALL=es_ES.UTF-8 DICTIONARY=espanol KDE_LANG=es_ES LANGUAGE=es_ES.UTF-8:es exec "$@" cer@Telcontar:~> cer@Telcontar:~> cat /usr/local/bin/ingles #!/bin/sh LANG=en_US.UTF-8 \ LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 \ DICTIONARY=english \ KDE_LANG=en_US.UTF-8 \ LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8:en \ exec "$@" cer@Telcontar:~> Thus I can run: espaniol zypper lp or ingles zypper lp to obtain the result of any command in English or Spanish as I wish. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
