My Epson printer will try to print on a European size instead of letter with source material that does not explicitly specify to use letter (8.5 x 11 inches). The LaserJet is OK with the US size. Where and how should I change the default size for the Epson printer, please?

If all is well, in YaST - Hardware - Printer Select the Epson Edit the config and change that from A4 to US Letter. That should be all.

This was a bit of an exercise; I couldn't clear the print queue, but I finally did, and then I got the printer accepting US letter. Thank you for your assistance! --doug

YaST/Printer, select printer, hit Edit, on page displayed there is a switch for "default paper size", or it may be under the "all options for the current driver" button.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but it seems that it either doesn't work, or it works for one print job and then reverts. I don't know what to do next. I wonder if the paper size is hard coded into the ppd file? (I had a lot of trouble getting this printer installed, and while I was just printing single pages on one side, all was fine. Then I ran into the paper size problem. The printer will stop and complain, and not continue if it senses letter paper.) The previous correspondence from me indicated that I thought the problem was solved, but it ain't! --doug

http://localhost:631/ --> printers --> select yours. --> administration --> set default options --> query printer for default options
Page size here shows under "General".

Hi Does the printer have a LCD and menu system? If so set the default paper size in here... That will at least confirm if it's a printer driver issue.

No, the issue is (apparently) that the printer default is Letter and contains Letter sized paper - as normal in North America - but CUPS is configured to default to A4. Maybe the locale is set wrong.
