I found that the libreELEC Linux does support HDMI sound - but cannot figure out what driver they use.

This is what Audio shows

ALSA:HDA Intel PCH, BBY NS-22D510NA19 on HDMI #0 

The BBY NS is my TV 19 inch Best Buy Insignia 19 inch TV
